Mitsubishi Outlander Sport
The Mitsubishi Outlander Sport is offered in six distinct trim levels: S, ES, LE, SE, SEL, and Trail Edition. Two engine options are available: a 2.0L DOHC 4-cylinder engine powers most models with 148-horsepower, while the premium SEL trim features a more potent 168-horsepower 2.4L 4-cylinder. Both engines work with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) featuring an 8-step Sport Mode for a more engaged driving experience.
S-AWC (Super All-Wheel Control) is available across all trims, providing enhanced traction on challenging surfaces. The system includes a dedicated 2WD mode to improve fuel efficiency during normal driving conditions.
The Outlander Sport is configured with a focus on urban utility rather than traditional SUV proportions. Its quick-ratio electric power steering contributes to a driving character more akin to a nimble hatchback than a conventional utility vehicle. The compact footprint facilitates city driving and parking in tight spaces.
Inside, the Outlander Sport accommodates five passengers with 60/40 split rear seatbacks that fold forward to increase cargo capacity. Rear seat occupants benefit from a fold-down padded armrest for additional comfort.
Standard technology includes Mitsubishi's FUSE connectivity system for hands-free phone operation, USB connectivity for device integration, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, and a rearview camera. The base S model features a 7-inch display audio system with four speakers, while
higher trims upgrade to an 8.0-inch Smartphone-link Display Audio (SDA) with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility.
The ES trim adds LED fog lights, while the LE introduces distinctive black fabric seating with red stitching and leather-wrapped steering wheel, shift knob, and parking brake with red stitching accents. The SE trim enhances the experience with combination soft-touch seating surfaces, push-button start, power-folding side mirrors, and a six-speaker audio system. The premium SEL model includes leather-appointed seating, black headliner and pillars, black roof rails, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror with Homelink.
Safety features are comprehensive across all models, with standard Forward Collision Mitigation with pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning, and Automatic High Beam. SE and SEL trims add Blind Spot Warning with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross Traffic Alert. All models include electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Hill Start Assist, and a robust set of airbags.
